To me the product ‘Flex’ is always used in conjunction with Flash.
I understand that it’s an interface to make Flash more interactive.
I think (for some applications at least) Raphael.js could be the solution.
Have you got some on line examples of Flash/Flex so that we could consider emulating an alternative as an example?

Yes, replacing Flash/Flex with DOMscripting (like Raphael) is always a very good thing 🙂
I myself refuse to run flash on computers that I control at all.
